Hi,

On June 29, ***@Prithvi will screen 'Ayodhya Gatha' followed by a Q&A session with the director.

Synopsis:

Since the late 1980s, events in Ayodhya leading up to and following the destruction of the Babri Masjid have deeply impacted the nation. But what have they, in turn, done to life in this small town? Today her streets are blocked and barricaded, and our only access to their stories is through memory, the tales, 'gatha', of her people.

Weaving a tapestry of perspectives about how the politics of hate affects personal, everyday lives, 'Ayodhya Gatha' explores how people make peace with such a past. How do they negotiate their way through these labyrinths of hate? How do they see the future? And how do their stories echo with ours.... wherever we are?

About the Director:

One-time advertising writer, Vani Subramanian has been a women’s rights activist and documentary filmmaker since the nineties. Her work as a filmmaker spans a range of issues from the political economy of food to primary education to culture, urban development and the politics of sex-selective abortions.
