*On September 28, ***@Prithvi will screen 'We, The People' and 'Mumbai
Hustle' followed by Q&A with the directors.*
*'We, The People' by Samarth Mahajan*
This film explores dissent in India through protests on Jantar Mantar Road,
a mile-long protest street in Indiaâs national capital Delhi. Through three
indefinite protests at Jantar Mantar Road, the film questions the
socio-political reality of India vis-Ã -vis the ideals the nation set out
with.
About the Director:
Self-taught in the art of filmmaking, Samarth loves to tell stories that
highlight invisible narratives. His debut feature documentary won the
National Award.
*'Mumbai Hustle' by Udayan Biswas*
In the streets of Indiaâs economic metropolis, hip-hop has reincarnated as
a new working class voice. This film explores the roots and expanse of this
culture in the by-lanes and alleys of Mumbai where hip-hop finds itself
reinterpreted as a socio-political tool of activism formed out of local
language, rhythm and sounds.
About the Director:
Udayan is a filmmaker and visual artist. After completing his graduation in
Journalism from Delhi University, he joined the Film and Television
Institute of India from where he graduated as a student of Film Direction.
